Helpful tips about Sayulita

Things to do in Sayulita: Other than Sayulita Sandbar:

Surfing, Volleyball, unique locations, hikes, fishing.

1. Surf:

Sayulita is a great place to surf.

The main break gets crowded but the people are typically very friendly.  The main break is a right break that has a mostly sandy bottom.  The wave is mostly built for boards of medium or longer length.  It's a slow rolling wave with little power but is still very fun.  The crowd here is mixed, some high level surfers but mostly intermediate level surfers.

Beginner surfers:  Beginner surfers typically go to the left of the main break where the surf is smaller.  The bottom is sandy and the waves don't hold shape well but they do allow new surfers to catch a simple wave and stand up.

Left break:  This break is closer to the north side of the beach.  It is typically a little steeper and faster than the Main break which goes right.  The bottom is very rocky so it is best surfed at mid or high tide.  When you fall, it's advised to fall flat and into the whitewash so you don't hit the rocks.

Other surf spots:  Get a guide and they can take you to many epic surf spots in the area.  Some are only accessible by boat or hiking. A good guide is worth the small expense to get you to the uncrowded waves.

Great Value Day Club:  Check out ITH Amazing Surf Hostel on Calle Pelicanos.  They have day club passes that give you access to their pool, climbing wall, bar and a work station with AC.  The cost is 100 pesos which is fantastic.  They also have a full moon party once a month with a DJ and Shamen for the full moon.

Fantastic Sports Bar:  Our friends at Sports Garden have huge 100 inch TV's and play all the sports.  If you want to hear the games and have the exerience of a true sports bar, this is a great spot to be.  Sports Garden is one block away from Sayulita Sandbar so it's easy to bouce between bars.

Volleyball Sayulita:   There are a few volleyball courts at the North side of the beach.  The first one you run into will typically get tourists and locals that will come play everyday around 5.  Everyone is welcome but it can get pretty competitive.

Golf Cart Rental:   There are many golf cart rental companies in town but we would recommend Kaliva Golf cart rentals above all.  They are typically the cheapest in town and they have the nicest carts.  Day use is usually around $50.  No haggling, great service too.

Street Tacos:       The street taco scene is fantastic.   Next to the bridge has 2 great spots but our favorite is next to the square across from Barolito/Yam Bak.
